5 steps to healthy hair

5 steps to healthy hair

A natural hair routine can sometimes be a daunting one to say the least. We have created the best haircare system that allows your hair to flourish while you get on with the more important things like LIFE! You have 99 problems but your hair ain't one

Step 1 - Lemongrass Gentle Cleanser - Its important to note that for curly and coily hair, your hair sebum does not flow freely down your hair shaft, therefore, your cleanser plays and essential role in cleaning your scalp and not stripping your hair completely of its natural oils.

Step 2 - The function of a deep conditioner is to add moisture back to your hair. The stronger your cleanser, the more work the deep conditioner has to work to get moisture back into your hair You may use this phase to detangle your hair with your fingers or with a wide tooth comb

Step 3 - LOC / LCO Process - In the curly / coily hair community, we use a 3 step layered process to add moisture and lock it in.

L - Leave in conditioner (Moisture primer) Never leave this step out. A thin water-based leave in conditioner allows moisture to penetrate deep within your hair shaft, essential for both low and high porosity hair types

O - Stands for oil - This can be use as the last step in your LOC process or in the middle. Remember that oil acts as a sealant and is not a moisturiser. If you apply oil to dry hair, you will then seal in your dryness.

C - Stands for cream. Used to seal and lock in moisture. You may use a curling cream, butter cream or curling jelly for this stage as the all have the same function depending on your desired style that you want to create. We will get into these in a separate blog post. Typical styles include wash n go, 2 strand twists and 3 strand braids.

Step 4 - Refresh - Once you have followed the correct procedure for moisture and seal, maintaining your hair during the week will not be an issue. Make sure you protect your hair at night with a satin pillowcase or bonnet as cotton will absorb all your hairs moisture. If correctly protected, You would just need to refresh with the moisture milk and off you go to be fantastic.
